Clan Locked Disciplines
Learning outside of clan disciplines which are signature to clans (Oblivion (Lasombra and Hecata), Tzimisce Amalgams, Salubri Amalgams and Ravnos Amalgams) require a teacher to show/explain to the character how to use it, once they have done that and have the resonance required they can purchase it.
For clarity, it is a scene where one teaches the other by showing or explaining, there are no rolls needed to promote natural RP progression.
Example :
• Lasombra Oblivion – “This here’s the Abyss. Do this stuff to get spooky shadows.”
• Hecata Oblivion – “This is how to work with dead stuff. Fun!”
• Salubri Amalgams – “You know how you can heal yourself and you’re tough? You can also do that to other people. Cool right? Also, eat souls.”
• Tzimisce Amalgams – “Flesh can be malleable like this. It works on other people. Get creative, but no furniture. Human leather is terrible quality.”
• Ravnos Amalgams – “Illusions man, they are really great. This is why.”
• Malkavian Dementation “Yeah so this is how you affect the mind with just your voice.”
• Ministry Eyes of the Serpent “Yeah the force of personality and bestial intimidation in a glance freezes people like so.”
• Nosferatu/Ravnos Unliving Hive “yeah so just open up your skin folds and that is how you can ghoul and store so many bees between your ribs”
Note : This does not include Ceremonies/Rituals/Formula from the Hecata, Tremere or Thin-bloods
Disciplines learned from Diablerie
No teachers are needed except for Blood Sorcery as it always requires teaching. This will not give the free ritual or ceremony or any future ones without learning. This also does not give Thin-blood Alchemy.
Cult Locked Disciplines
Disciplines will be listed by approved first, and those approved with tweaks separate. Cult requirements and other rules (including clan-specific locks) that predate this book’s release are still in play. Here are the original power restrictions.
Ancestral Dominion – Mithras
Slavish Devotion – Mithras
Mental Maze – Church of Set
Douse the Fear (Dampen the fear) – Church of Caine
Fire in the Blood – Church of Caine
Antebrachia Igium (Creatio Ignis) – Church of Caine
Shatter – Mithras
Ingrained Discipline Buying Guide
Once a character has acquired 3 powers in a Discipline, they may take on a new flaw: Ingrained Discipline. Thin-bloods may not take this flaw. Caitiff may designate any one of their disciplines for this flaw, paying Caitiff rates when purchasing. Details of this flaw are in Tattered Facade.
- Designate an in-clan discipline to take on the corresponding flaw. No need to buy the new discipline powers yet.
- Once enough exp is acquired, buy up to 3 ranks of powers in the ingrained discipline. You may buy one Level 3 power, one level 2 and level 1 power, or three Level 1 powers. All are priced at the usual buying price for their level. You can buy powers as you get Exp or all at once. No resonance hunting needed.
- If you want to reorganize discipline you may. As long as it is a simple move. For example if you had taken two level 1 powers prior. You can “Move” the level 1 to the Ingrained Discipline pool and put the new level 2 in the normal power slot. This is not a license to do a complete reorganization of the powers.
Example: “The Player’s PC has Heightened Senses, Sense the Unseen, and Scry the Soul. Upon buying the ingrained discipline, the player designates Sense the Unseen as a rank of Ingrained Discipline and puts Level 2 Premonition on their sheet. They pay 5 exp for this.” - Record the Discipline next on the sheet under power. It may have to share a slot with others.
Example: “Heightened Senses | Sense the Unseen” May be written for Auspex
Note: Traditional restraints apply to certain disciplines that need to be explained in ordered to be acquired.
