Corebook p. 123 and p. 125
Contests: opposing rolls that do not result in damage. They do not count as combat, either social or physical.
Rolling a tie in a contest means that the active character wins the roll. The active character is the one who performs the action and calls for the first roll.
Conflicts: social or physical opposing rolls that result in damage to either Willpower or Health.
As pools in conflicts are rolled “simultaneously” and both characters are counted as active attackers, they will inflict each other 1 point of damage on a tie, counting as a margin of 1 success on both sides. If the conflict is one-sided (the attacker is at a range and you aren’t firing back, the defender is only dodging, etc.), the defender will not inflict damage on a tie; the attacker still inflicts 1 point of damage.
