When submitting an update for your character, there are a few things you need to do to ensure that the update goes through successfully.
All sheet updates are done via tickets using the following command: -ticket open {character name} update
This command will open a ticket between you and the ST team where you can outline what updates are to be made and provide links to relevant rolls/scenes in order to justify the expenditure.
You are expected to track your rolls for a character and provide links to the rolls in the ticket. Below we have a suggested format for these links. Please do not provide a link to your character tracker as this will not be accepted as evidence of meeting the requirements. The character tracker is for your use.
Suggested format
This is a suggested format for making an update to your sheet. It’s not required but the template will help you and the team get the update done that much faster. Include as many of these as you are for updates, one for each purchased item:
- Purchased Item (Current Level) -> (New Level) – Cost
- Attribute + Skill: 4 Successes Vs Difficulty 3 – [Link]
- Attribute + Skill: 3 Successes (ST Given) – [Link]
- Attribute + Skill: 6 Successes Vs Difficulty 4 – [Link]
- Attribute + Skill: 4 Successes Vs Difficulty 3 – [Link]
An example of this:
- Occult 2 -> 3 – 9 xp
- Intelligence + Occult: 4 Successes Vs Difficulty 3 – [Link]
- Intelligence + Occult: 3 Successes (ST Given) – [Link]
- Resolve + Occult: 6 Successes Vs Difficulty 4 – [Link]
- Resolve + Occult: 4 Successes Vs Difficulty 3 – [Link]
This allows for the team members checking sheets to get through the request much faster and lays everything out logically.
If you have an Ask the ST ruling for the purchased item, please link this in the ticket as well and lay out the steps accordingly. Example:
- Resources 2 -> 3 – 3xp
- Ask ruling: [Link]
- Step 1: Attribute + Skill: 4 Successes Vs Difficulty 3 – [Link]
- Step 2: Attribute + Skill: 4 Successes Vs Difficulty 3 – [Link]
- Step 3: Attribute + Skill: 4 Successes Vs Difficulty 3 – [Link]
- Step 4: Attribute + Skill: 4 Successes Vs Difficulty 3 – WAAC – [Link]
- WAAC ruling: [Link]
Housekeeping
When submitting an update, please ensure that you include a copy of your PDF character sheet in the ticket. These are archived when updates are approved and help us ensure that we have records of any changes made to your sheet.
Always ensure that you update:
- All-time total Exp
- Date Counted
- Spent Exp
- Unspent Exp
- The Experience Expenditure list at the end of the character sheet
This will ensure that everything is tracked appropriately on your sheet and everyone can see what changes have been made and why.
Ambition
Your character’s ambition can be changed in an update. This can be achieved either by completing their previous ambition and needing to submit for a new one, or through evidence of roleplay supporting changing their ambition to something more aligned with their current goals.
Ambitions must be achievable within the setting and not too broad. These are used to heal aggravated willpower damage so having an ambition such as “Become the Prince of Seattle” (which is definitely not achievable) would not be able to be worked towards and therefore would not assist with aggravated willpower damage.
If you’re having trouble coming up with a suitable ambition, we encourage the use of the RP Advice and Mechanics forum to workshop this with other players. They’re always willing to help.
Predator Type
Changing your character’s predator type is possible through means of submitting for a ruling in Ask the STs. A test or ruling may be given and would need to be linked in the update request once the ruling is satisfied. This will not give you access to the advantages of that predator type available at character creation unless ruled otherwise.
Attributes and Skills
Please refer to the Attributes and Skills page for details on how to level attributes and skills
Skill Specialties
These must be accompanied by an Ask the STs ruling and the subsequent test completed before the specialty can be added to the sheet.
Advantages
Please refer to the Merits and Backgrounds page for details on advantages which can be purchased without a ruling from the ST team.
For any other advantages such as Resources increase, Havens, Loresheet dots, these must be accompanied by a ruling in Ask the STs for a test on how to gain that advantage. All steps of the test which has been provided must be completed prior to submitting the request for an update and all relevant rolls must be linked in the update.
Disciplines
Your character has access to a discipline from character creation, an in-clan discipline or the taste of another kindred’s blood. If the access is not already noted on your sheet (and you have no dots in it) and isn’t RAW (ie in Clan), put a link to where you gained the discipline so it can be verified.
In some cases such as the Oblivion trees, your character will need to be taught how to access the discipline in addition to tasting it in the vitae of another kindred.
You will also need to have the character hunt, herd feed or in some other way access the appropriate resonance to be able to purchase that power. This will also need to be linked in your update. This must be their current resonance. If they have in any way fed since the hunt with the resonance, they will lose that resonance and will need to get it again before the update can be approved.
- Presence 1 – 7 xp
- Access gained from tasting the blood of Jane Doe – (Link to scene)
- Hunting roll – (link to successful roll)
- Resonance – (link to resonance roll showing Sanguine resonance for that hunt)
Willpower, Health & Humanity
Willpower and Health will increase when the relevant attributes (or disciplines in the case of Fortitude – Resilience) are increased. Please ensure these are updated as appropriate when increasing these attributes or disciplines.
Humanity increases require a more in depth story arc and details for this can be found here: Humanity Gain
Blood Potency
